Last Thursday, along with the 24 HUF students, Mona, Robbie, Kyle, David and Debbie, we set out for the vineyard! We arrived shortly after half past nine and immediately began our work. The people who own the vineyard are frends of Robbie and Mona. Every year the HUF students and the avanti workers voulenteer to harvest three feilds of grapes for the family. In return, they provide a wonderful flame grilled lunch! We worked from 10a until around 4p. It was hard work- but it was fun to work together and it was easy to enjoy the harvest and the beautiful tuscan countryside all around us.
Making our way through the "forrest" to the vineyard!
Andrea with some of the HUF girls and Kyle.
Climbing up the hill to our first of three fields to be picked.
Sending off one of the many truck loads of freshly picked grapes!
A view from the top of the hill.
Laura and Angela.
Our first row.

Laura and Angela and some moldy grapes. Yes, moldy. Most of them were in fact moldy. It has been cooler here in Italy and I suppose the rain has contributed as well to the state of the grapes....
Besides the mold, we also encountered several insects and made friends with a lime green spider. ha.
Loading up more grapes.
Preparing la pranza!
Finito! What a fun day!
David....need I say more? =)
